sorry I haven't answered just got back from holiday testing out all your answers
 
Switch on the wobble board has been replaced and  new relay if I open up the control panel and energise the play relay by hand
 
Which it does not seem to be doing in normal modeThe whole selection side of the machine works i.e. gripper  arm will pick up a record place it on the turntable and a record plays still holdding in relay. lift the torn arm to the centre of the record the grip arm will pick up the record and place it back in the basket .basket goe.s round  the record will play at a slower speed have checked all wiring plugs everything checked out okay on that point rotated basket mortar by hand everything works on that point
