Chis is describing a 'sort of' cabinet makers scraper; a proper one is made
fron a old woodsaw blade preferably a cast steel one as I'm not sure if a
modern hard point type will work.
What you do is take an angle grinder to an old wornout saw and cut it into
a rectangle about 4" x 2"
Grind all the teeth off the 4" edge, but do not de-burr this this edge as
the burr produced is now going to be the cutting blade.
With the scraper still held in the vise rub the round shaft of a
screwdriver up and down this edge several times at a slight angle to
horizontal, the idea is to turn the burr further over. Hold firmly with a
hand at each end and apply a fair bit of pressure.
The scraper is held in both hands by the 2" edges thumbs touching in the
middle & 2 fingers behind flexing the scraper with thumb pressure about
1/2" Tilt away from you at about 45deg. Cuts when pushing it away from you,
lift of bring, it back and repeat.
A bit of experimenting with tilt, angle of burr and amount of flex to get
the best cut will be required.
Beware of scraping like crazy as the blade will get hot and can burn the
balls of your thumbs!
Resharpen by running a fine file sideways up and down the blade a few times
followed up by the screwdriver shaft again.
Really difficult to cause any damage to wood with this tool
