Nick,
M stands for Manual, R for Remote--If you look at the schematic, you will see that they show the "dummy plug" and it's jumpers. Removing the "dummy", and installing the MRVC plug is "opening" the jumpers and putting the remote pot in place of the one that is there. The remote is exactly the same as the original.

Ron,
I did find the info in a different manual. (I found
the info on the 161 section that uses the same amp) It
is calling for a mrvc-3. I did check Vern's site and
it appears he still has the pot for sale. You mention
that they are an extension of the same pot attched to
the amp. The schematics I'm looking at isn't the most
detailed in the world when refering to the remote vc.
So, do you recall if the pots are wired in series with
the remote pot as the primary or if it's a parallel
setup? In additon, the remote pots are 0~100% value
or are preset resistant values (like 1,2,3,4 clicks)?
Thanks,
Nick
Nick,
The remote VC on those is just an extension of the
same pot attached to the amp.The schematic shows how
it would be wired, but does not show the value. I
believe that Vern Tisdale still has pots for sale
--www.verntisdale.com .
Powered Remote Volume Controls (PRVC) came out with
the AYU models, on the SHFA-4 amps. PRVC-1's were not
too good, so the PRVC-2 was redesigned as a direct
replacement. The PRVC-3 was a further improvement, and
will also directly interchange with the earlier
models. The PRVC-4 Code A, came out with the
introduction of the SPS-2, and will NOT interchange
with the earlier models. The PRVC-4 Code B, came out a
few years later, and can be used with slight mods in
place of the Code A, and vise versa.

I was wondering if anyone can give me any insite on
a
remote volume control for a Seeburg 101. It's got an
HFMA2 amplifier in it and a dummy plug in the J101
socket (for remote volume).
The service manual doesn't seem to contain any
information on the proper remote volume control for
this amp. Atleast I can't seem to find it.
The amp doesn't seem to have the room to take the
motorized pot and the prvc3 control. I think the
prvc3 goes back to the STD1...
Anyway, I would like to get some part# info if you
guys have anything. I would like to locate one.
Thanks,
Nick
