Daniel,
Just a thought, or two--If it sounds crisp at times, I might think the problem might be one or more of the following---needle tracking pressure? Also be sure that the tone arm is not "pulling" the needle to one "side" of the NPAC. The arm MUST be totally free to follow the grooves in the record. Mounting angle of the NPAC?
I can't re-call, does the tone arm have the "helper spring", or is it supposed to have it, on that model? If it sould be there and is not, that will affect the tone arm movement. The tone arm wire is always suspect too. Be sure it has not become too stiff.
Hope that helps. Ron Rich

Hi everyone,
I've got an ami continetnal 1 which is in its very final stages of
restoration, but I want to fix this problem before I put it back together.
When playing most records at some stages the tweeter sounds very bright and
shrill on some frequencies. At first I could not tell if it was cabinet
vibrations or the tweeter, but I figured out it was definately coming from
the tweeter.
The amp has been rebuilt, and the cartridge has been changed to a Pickering
NP/AC (if thats important?). I was going to take it to a speaker re-coning
place but thought it would be better if I asked here first, in case it could
be something else. Anyone got any ideas??
Thanks,
Daniel
