Tube numbering is no big deal, as others have explained. One quick hint, even though you have followed the TSG, try this "trick". With the mechanism scanning JERK the 12AX7 tube out quickly. If the mech trips INSTANTLY, the 2050 tube is probably OK. If it does not trip instantly, I would replace the 2050, and see if the system works.
BTW, do yo have the "Seeburg neon test light" ?
