Hello to all,
thought I would tell you all about my newest family member. Last night I picked up a Seeburg 147 (Trashcan) off Craigslist in my area.
Well....it's rough! I knew it would be rough from the pics. It's missing the back door, the right side pilistar is there, the left is trashed. The Dome needs replaced, there is a section on the top of the Dome that looks like it's missing (under the chrome). Some of the cabinet is peeling away and looks like it can be saved with some TLC.
The good news is: it looks like it's all there! Gentlemen, I am now WAY over my head on this project, but I just couldn't pass it up for the price. I want to post some pics on the Google Jukebox site, but couldnt find the link so if anyone knows it, would you mind postingthe link for me so I can share it with you.
I spent a few hours last night just getting rid of bugs and webs. I found lots of little "parts" which most I have no idea what they are, but didn't want to throw anything away.
It's got a real charm about it, I am thrilled and know patience and of course $$ is the key to restoring this beauty. Time is on my side.
Oh, it came with 20 wonderful 78rpm's, most I have heard of and most are R&R of the 40's and 50's, those alone were worth what I paid. The background on this is also quite interesting and I will post more later. I'm off to start detailing it a bit and the first thing I saw was the Power Cord needs replacing before I even think of plugging it in. I was told when it was purchased years ago, it was working?
Jackie
