[Jukebox-list] Cleaning/ Dumping records

 It's always bothered me that people would dump old records in the
garbage. Just because they don't want them, doesn't mean that everyone
else considers them worthless (as indicated below... Fortunately another
collector found the "rare" ones before they were destroyed). Why not
donate them to Salvation Army or other second hand stores for someone
else to enjoy?

I really the tone of this thread I may be one of the younger lurkers
here, but I remember juke distributors & thrift stores buried in lightly
used records & now  the prices & availability are setting a new higher
value to records. 
I recently (a couple years ago) dumped several hundred 78 rpm  records
at one of the dumpsters on my mail route (manager likes me , so it was
OK). The next day the manager laughingly told me about the guy
frantically  retrieving all of the 78s I had dumped. Haha  When the
manager asked him he  said that some of the labels were RARE. I
personally guarantee that none of  those records would ever play again
so anyone would enjoy the music, but beauty  is in the eye of the
beholder. I use dish soap & water and an old record  rack to partially
dry before reusing old baby diapers in a much more pleasant  manner than
last time. Pat the postman American  version
