John,
Try this:
First, be sure that the DPU/SPU jumper up in the left hand corner is on the correct pin. Next look at the insulated section of the "K" (write in) contact in the pricing unit. Be sure that it is clean and is not burned. Next look at the two stepper wheels. Be sure both are "homed". Now look at the rear of the wheels--any burns? If not, one of the two--I'm not sure which, but I think the right one, as you face the rear of the door--should be resting so that the two "rings" are both touching a pad, and connecting them together. Follow those two "pads" around to a point where they run close together, and jumper them--even if your meter says that they are making contact, and I'll bet it will now select---
