You can simply cut one lead to the latch solenoid (the side with only 
one wire connected) and then you simply have to hold both buttons in 
until the selection is made (wait for the 'ca-chunk' sound)

I have a number of customers with the latch coil staying energized 
constantly - the coils were designed for continuous duty so there should 
be no problems, the coils get hot and may buzz of course...
