HI Jackie, I have seen or I should say smelled this with some old vintage
radio plastic parts, dial bezels, knobs buttons etc..depending on what they
are made of the amonia might be attacing the plastic ?

The old sets I saw this happen to were from the 40's, and some of the
material starts to disenirgrate with age and contact with cleaners.. Hope
yours is not the case ! My wurlitzer 1250 had some nasty dirty buttons, I
cleaned them up with simple green. No problems with that so far and it was a
few years back. Mabe you should re-wash them with somthing else to try to
neutralize the amonia ? Just a guess but it cant hurt !!

Others here might have more information for you too.

BTY hows that Telephunken radio set going ??
