[Jukebox-list] Tech Tip: Setting NSM Festival (or other ES 45RPM machines) to free play.

This is only for the 1st generation ES machines, not for ESII or later.

Well, simply put, you can't set it to free play. Not directly at least.
The software doesn't appear to support this. HOWEVER if you upgrade to
ESII software then you CAN add Free play to your Festival or other ES
(1) machine. You need to make a number of modifications to the main
logic board as well. Don't forget to add the jumper in place of the "Key
Switch" to enable the feature.

The original program in the ES series is contained in two TMS2716s and
these need to be replaced with a 2732 with ES2 software. Then you have
to lift out pins 18, 19, 20, and 21 and tie them to various leads, plus
cut and jumper one trace on the backside of the computer. Anyone that
understands the difference between decoding a pair of 2716s vs a 2732
should have little trouble working out the jumpers.

About as far as I can tell the only difference between the ES and the
ESII computers is the use of TMS1726(ES) vs 2732s(ESII).

I can expand on this if anyone is interested...or I can do it for your
machine for $80 plus shipping (ship your computer that is!). Or I can
sell you the Eprom with the instructions...$25.

PS I also post to the "alt.collecting.juke-boxes" newsgroup - don't
forget to look there for more jukebox chatter
