[Jukebox-list] 1650 Dome

Many people use the term "plexiglass" to describe any clear plastic sheet,
but if you order plexiglass, it's made from acrylic. Acrylic has great
clarity, but is brittle. You want to order polycarbonate sheet (trade name
Lexan).

It is difficult for most homeowners without special tools to bend Lexan
nicely. Even if your oven was big enough, you will surely mar the surface
installing it. I would use no greater than 1/8 inch thickness to try and
bend it as is. You will need some spacer material to put inside the dome
frame channel.

I personally don't care for plastic domes - they attract dust and scratch
easily no matter how gently you wipe. They are flimsy when you prop them up.
I would wait for an original dome to show up on ebay or splurge at Christmas
time to buy a repro. Good luck,

Jim
