Can anyone help me out with this missing transistor? Like maybe a
part number and/or some leads where I might find one? Vern Tisdale has
a $25 minimum order and I'm not ready for that yet...

Thanks!

There is a chance that amp will work. The 5U4 tube lit when I replaced
the fuse but there is one transistor in the pre-amp circuit that's
missing. These?are at the bottom of the amp and there should be 4
of them. The rest of the tubes didn't light so the missing transistor
could be causing the problem. I would contact Ron Rich about this and
see if he has this transistor. I saw a SHFA-2 at the show and it didn't
have these transistors in that section.

The mech I sent did have
problems. It would pull out a record and play it but it couldn't go
into scan mode. There is a lever that engages in the back that operates
between scan and play. It this lever gets gummy with grime, it will
stick and cause problems. Hopefully, your mech won't have this problem
but I'm seeing it happen more often with old grimy mechs. The 161, Mark
and I had, was stuck really bad and we freed it up with penetrating
oil. You may end up sending a mech out to be cleaned and adjusted by an
expert. All you need is money...?
