Jason - I believe there were two different amps used in the trashcan series
and there were minor revisions along the way. Operators were known for
swapping amps from another machine. Are you sure the diagram you have
matches the amp? Also, chances are in an amp that old, someone has already
made minor repairs in the past. Many times you will see a section of the can
capacitors (on top) replaced with single units underneath. For ease of
installation, they will usually be soldered in a different physical location
in the amp. So it may look like the wiring is different when in fact the
electrical circuitry is the same. I hesitate to give amp repair advice to a
beginner because it can be dangerous work. But if you must proceed, cut out
one capacitor at a time and replace it immediately before cutting out any
more. You really don't need the diagram for this if you take it slow. Keep
your fingers out of there with the power on. I could be persuaded to send
photos of the amp in my 147 if you have the same model amp in yours. Let me
know,
Jim

Subject: [Jukebox-list] trashcan amp
Hi I've decided to give recapping a 148 trashcan amp a go and am struggling
a little, I have the manual and I'm having a little trouble following the
schematics in that a couple of wires aren't running where they say they
should be. The amp worked before I started but definately needed a rebuild.
Anyway I am hoping someone may be able to send some photo's of the underside
of a trashy amp, rebuilt or original, I am hoping someone else has one out
on a bench too. I know the manual has photo's but they are a little hard to
see for checking on mistakes.
Thanks
Jason
