An ordinary hair drier on high for three minutes will loosen the gripper
enough to cycle it. Remove the records first. After you get it loose, use
Liquid Wrench or WD-40 to loosen it further. I like to move the scan switch
to "OFF" while the gripper is straight up. This way you can get the WD-40
down inside where its needed. You will see two oil grooves on the inner
shaft. Cycle it several times and continue to lube it. You may have to apply
heat a couple of times depending on how bad it is frozen. After you get it
working properly, oil it with a quality non-gumming formula oil. I've done
this many times and never had to take one apart. Good luck,
