Mike, I'd urge against this. The Seeburg R is a landmark design
(so good it was ripped off by Rock-Ola) and is a highpoint of
the "bright lights and chrome" idiom of the 1950s. The way the
designers make the record changer seem to almost float in air 
in front of the fluted metal background - it's beautiful! And
it creates a cetain amount of visual tension because it looks
like the whole upper part of the cabinet should slide off the
base and crash to the floor; but it doesn't. The guys who
designed these were real artists and modifying their work
almost never improves it. That said, it's your machine and
you can slap bubble tubes and glowing plastic pilasters and
any cra^H^H^Hstuff you want on it, but please consider that
preservation is a virtue in and of itself.
