[Jukebox-list] Seeburg M100A and Durium Hit of the Week records

Most of the Hit of the Weeks I've seen have a spiral take up groove.
That should work well in the Seeburg A (and most other jukes). Yes,
there is no lead in groove, but many jukes have a feed in weight to push
the tonearm inward.

However you attach the HOW records to a standard 78 would have to ensure
that they are flat. I find many HOW records are kind of "wavey" and this
creates tracking problems, as well as rumble. You may want to consider
the reversibility aspect (ie being able to remove them from the 78 at
some point in the future) if you want to keep any value in your HOW's.

I'm surprised you have trouble playing Victor scrolls in your 700. I've
got a 500, and have no problem getting that type of record to cut off.
Have you tried adjusting the cut off mechanism?

Not sure how many folks on the list have an M100A - I know I'm looking
for one - but this message is slanted more toward David since we got a
look at his M100A video. I'm just curious that if I came up with a way
to safely mount some of those "paper" Hit of the Week records to an
unwanted Dinah Shore 78 (!) - would the M100A (or ANY 78 jukebox) play
them? I know there's no lead-in groove...and I can't remember if there's
a cut-off...but I'm wondering about the characteristics of those records
vs. the mech on the A. The HOW records have some incredbile music and
it's a shame that they can't be appreciated in a jukebox. I've put some
Victor Scrolls in my Wurlitzer 700 and they sound great, but hardly any
of them cut-off. It's a nuisance, but at least I can play my
High-Hatters, McKinney Cotton Pickers, and George Olsen records in a
jukebox. But since I'm in the market for an M100A, I'm curious about how
that would work.
