Subject: [Jukebox-list] Vern's Seeburg Cartridge

Has anybody used Vern's replacement Seeburg mono cartridge? I would like to
know how it compares weight wise to the 345-03D.

I have a customer with an M100C who has broken the 345-03D. It's totally
non fixable. I could probably come up with a replacement good redhead but
the tonearm counter balance weight has been cut back to accommodate the
345-03D. I think that anyone who can break a cartridge is not to be trusted
to change the counter balance weight (and he lives a long way from me).

On Vern's site, the more details link for the cartridge comes up with an
"unavailable".

Vern if you read this, can you let me know the weight of your cartridge.

Thanks Norman.

Jackie,
Look at page 16 of my mech book for pictures of the different
cartridges and needles. Also look at the "notes" N-1 thru P-5 on page
50/51.
A "Yellow cartridge" was never an original Seeburg part. Yellow
"needles", (the needle itself was not yellow, but the plastic it's mounted
on was yellow), however, were issued twice. The first ones are very
rare, and were diamond tipped with a "1 mill" point and for use with the
original mono "Red Head" (#246816) cartridge, as an option . Starting
with the SS-160 model, all "160 selection" machines were equipped with
"Yellow Stereo Diamond Needles" (once again, the plastic was yellow).
As for the tip being "blunt"---Well it IS called a "needle"---
  Ron Rich
