[Jukebox-list] Vern's Seeburg Cartridge

Norman,
According to my Postal scale, which should "round off" to the nearest upper number, the "redhead" and Vern's cartridge both are 12 grams. The "Pickering" is 10 grams.
You have me somewhat confused, however, by what you have posted here. None of the above cart's are "Stereo", and none have "4 pins". The Pickering and Vern's are "Stereo compatible". That means that the needle is the right size to play stereo ("Micro") groove records, and the internals have been wired to combine both channels into a "mono" signal, using only two pins.
If the one you have, had 4 pins, it is a later model which is "true" stereo.

Thanks David for your reply. I have already tried West-Tech - sent Gib some pictures of the damage, more in hope than expectation.

The cartridge is broken in half and the owner had already carried out a "repair" (which apparently worked!). Two of the pins of the original stereo cartridge have been broken clean off. I'm not usually one to say "never" but this looks pretty terminal. And Gib turned it down flat.

I had been toying with trying a repair using another Pickering stereo cartridge (but I don't have a good one spare).

Norman.

Are you sure of that? Gib at west-techservices.com can fix
just about anything wrong with a cartridge, including re-
winding the coils. I'd check with him before scrapping an
original pickup.
