[Jukebox-list] record collection

Now THAT is what I call a record collection! (Reminds me of the line from
Crocodile Dundee, about "knife, knife? Now THIS is a knife).
I found the auction interesting, although I missed it. Thank you Roy for
the link. And I thought Roy Dean had a lot of records...well, he DOES.
Guess it's all in the perspective?
I read the Q & A from the seller and was not really impressed by the
seller's sometimes sarcastic replies. Sam Walton did not create his
retailing empire by telling potential customers that "their mother is
worried about them"...
Oh well, I just HAD to rant a bit ;-)
Also, he states that the collection is worth $50 million, and then proceeds
to AUCTION it off. It, like anything else sold at auction, is worth exactly
what someone will pay for it. No more, no less.
Holy MOLY. Now I will be having dreams of entire buildings filled with
records. I would have bought it all, if I had the money. Maybe we all here
should work out some sort of syndicate, so we don't have to watch these
jukebox/music items going overseas.
I have no doubt that collection, if parted out, will make a handsome profit.
It's kinda sad in a way, when circumstances force things like these to be
sold.
And that's my contribution for the day. I have a Seeburg stepper on the
bench calling for me...
