Hello All,
First I'd like to express my thanks to all who helped with suggestions to improve the sound quality of my Seeburg L. The amp had been complely recapped and out of tolerance resistors replaced as necessary. Suggestions to have the speakers re-coned and to clean all the contacts of the mech and amplifier boards as well as those push-in pin connectors (volume, mech plug) with "Deoxit" made a marked improvement. If I might I'd like to put in a plug for Miller Sound in Pennsylvania who reconed my speakers. Their work is professional, quality with quick turn-around.
My question for this post is I have a Seeburg Entertainer of the 70's. As such it uses black and gray boxes, a digital control center and a keypad in it's selection and credit system.
The machine is on free play, and the lights saying select any single and select any album are lit. When the first two numbers are entered lights saying first digit selected, second digit selected should light while the third number entered should cause the mechanism to scan and select the record. None of these lights light so essentially there is no response from the selection system at all. A scan card has been substituted into the control center, the gray box has been swapped and the keyboard has also been swapped but with no change occuring. If I charge the tormat with a 1.5 volt battery and cause the mechanism to scan it will select all selections so the read out system is working properly.
I was thinking of replacing the black box and about to commence a search of ebay for one. Would this be a probable solution? Should I be considering other possibilities?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave Rakowski
