I have a very very very original Seeburg R, and the lower back door is metal, and dark brown.? I assume it is original, but 
never underestimate the thinking or old operators!

Is the back door cover on a Seeburg R " masonite " like the Seeburg C G W 
models?
This is the cover that covers the back of the amplifier and selection receiver.

I bought a Seeburg R and the cover on this one is grey and metal.  I know its 
not supposed to be grey but should it be metal?

It seems to fit well. It doesn't have the wood strips inside that would fit on 
the outside
sides of the amplifier and selection receiver.
