Hi everyone, well… after a lot of cycle and observe (as I think Kyle suggested to several people, and is a great suggestion), I am finding that the idler wheel is not making contact with the shaft of the motor. What I did was make a selection for a 33 rpm record, after the record landed on the tt, it stopped dead. I took the tt off and I could see the idler wheel did rise up like it supposed to but was a small fraction of an inch away from the shaft of the motor. If I pushed on the part (the wheel sits on) by hand, it would start to spin. Soooo….. what I finally figured out is, I have a bind in there. Something is stopping it from going all the way to the shaft. The springs seem to be ok. So what I decided to do is take it all apart, clean it real good, re-lube it and try again. But first, I noticed the motor grommets are crumbled and hard. I ordered new ones. I have them and am ready to install them. Here is my question. Does the flat side go on the top or bottom? Also, the
metal tubing that goes in the middle. How important are these? If I put the tube in the grommet then put the screw in, it will only go so far. The bottom of the tube is hitting the hole on the motor and the screw is tight against the top. But there is very little or no pressure on the grommet. I tried searching the internet for pictures or instructions on how to install these but could not find anything. Thank you Jim and Adrian for your explanation on how this works. It helped me to figure out what the problem is. Thank you for your help!! I know I will get this working.
Doug
