The flat side goes on the bottom. The tubes are important, so if you dropped
one (we've all done it) get out your flashlight and start looking. Don't be
concerned about the "slop" after you tighten the screws - they should
lightly rest on the grommets - their function is to reduce motor vibration
which otherwise would be picked up by the needle and cartridge. Good luck,
