Paul,
I think you are refering to the motor switch. The "Service Switch" is located in front on the mechanism shelf--It may or may not be marked on that model, but it is a rather large lever that swings left to right. When in the "service" position, it raises the two "crank arms" up and opens power to the mech.
The motor switch, and the service switch must be in the "run" or "on" position.
If the carriage is not running, but will run if you hold the "cancel switch" (on the amp), either the "end of record" trip switch (which is what I suspect), is defective, or the "transfer switch" is out of adjustment, or broken.
Do you need to hold the cancel switch until the record advances, or can you just hold it for a couple of seconds? Ron Rich
