flattening without breaking ?

Is there any way to straighten slightly warped pot metal without it breaking?
I learned an expensive lesson on my Wurlitzer 24 A.The titleholders are
slightly bowed in the middle which draws the tileholder outsides away from the flat
frame with the numbers on it. I suspect it's from all the years of the
springy metal holders at the bottom pushing upward and the top being held down
tightly with the screw in the middle. In other words uneven pressure holding it in.
Heat may have had something to do with it also.
I took the left one out and thought I could gently bend it into compliance by
hand. That was a mistake. It snapped and broke. A replacement from Bill
Butterfield is costing me $125. Ouch!!!
Don't mind paying that for a near unobtanium part on a juke that I got
already broken or missing but on something I broke that is painful.
Would possibly heat and then placing a heavy weight on top of one on a flat
surface straighten one out as I don't want to break the right side ? Or is it
safer to leave it alone?I just don't like the lone titleholder facing the
middle leaning back away from the frame so much.
