I'm no expert, but do your 'B' sides have lots of curving rub lines on them
or is the arm returning to the basket rest position centrally?
I'm just thinking that if your records are OK but the gripper doesn't
'rest' properly then the gripper unit may have been removed and put back
off center at some time.

My 429 had problems with the gripper arm sticking onto the turntable
plater edge when the B side of the record was being placed down. I adjusted
the turntable height a tad but mostly it was a lubrication issue.
