OK, I'm a glutton for punishment. I now have two Mills Throne of Musics with at least enough parts to make one, and probably could do a second with the acquisition of a few extra parts. I drove up to Grand Rapids, MI for this last one. I'm not sure when I'm going to start the ground-up restoration as I have a Rockola 1448 that I've already started. I do have an initial question for the experts out there...
Each of these Mills came with slightly different designated Astatic cartridges. Both of these are of the Astatic "B" design. The plastic cartridge with two mounting holes that run through the sides, one hole at the front, the other at the rear. One cartridge was marked "B-2 264" , the other cartridge is marked "W-27 1745 (best I can tell)." Anyone know the exact cartridge that the Mills T.O.M. is suppose to have installed and also if there's a substitute?
I thought Rockola published the worst manual out there..., well the Mills manual makes the Rockola look like the encyclopedia Britanica! The Mill only states that it's an Astatic cartridge. Also, the Mills schematics only designate capacitors and resistors components, but WITHOUT their values!! I'm not complaining though as these are beautiful, majestic lite-up boxes when restored!
As always...Thanks for any answers in advance!!
