[Jukebox-list] Advice on cleaning aluminum

Hi

I have a mid 60s German Wurlitzer Lyric which has travelled around with me.
The mechanism is fine. I serviced it some time ago and, with a relay and
resistors, converted it to use a US Wurl motor. Cosmetically it is in good
original condition but the metal work needs to be cleaned.

Is there an easy way to clean off 40 years of oxidization on aluminum trim?
Does anyone have experience with 'aluminator'
http://www.orisonmarketing.com/corrosion/aluminator/aluminator.html or any
other oxide remover? If so, how far does it go? Do you still need to use a
combination of elbow grease and metal polish to get a nice polish and shine?

Some people advocate fine steel wool. Others say avoid it and use 3M
scouring pads. I'd like to hear about what has worked best to bring aluminum
back to original condition.

Thanks

Mark
